Supplier Quality Requirements

The following requirements apply to all suppliers providing materials, products, or services to Precision Manufacturing accordance with a Purchase Order.

PACKING AND SHIPPING

Supplier shall prepare, pack, and ship product in a manner that prevents damage or deterioration during transportation. All items must be securely packed and clearly labeled with identifying information.

 

SHIPMENT / DELIVERY

Shipments or deliveries shall be made in accordance with the requirements stated in the Purchase Order. The supplier must notify Precision Manufacturing in writing of any anticipated or actual delay in delivery.

SUBCONTRACTING / APPROVED SUPPLIERS

Suppliers may not subcontract any portion of the work related to a Precision Manufacturing order without prior written approval. If subcontracting is authorized:

  • Precision Manufacturing must retain the same rights and access (see "Right of Entry")

  • Suppliers must only use sub-tier providers that are approved and capable of meeting applicable requirements

  • All applicable requirements—including drawings, specifications, quality clauses, and key characteristics—must be flowed down to sub-tier suppliers

 

RIGHT OF ENTRY

The supplier shall provide Precision Manufacturing, its customers, and regulatory authorities right of access to applicable areas of facilities, at any level of the supply chain, involved in the order. This includes access to relevant records and personnel.

 

QUALITY

Supplier shall provide and maintain an effective quality management system to ensure that all delivered product or services conform to the requirements of the Purchase Order, including:

  • Conformance to the latest revision of all specifications and drawings

  • Documentation and traceability for all special processes

  • Notification to Precision Manufacturing of any changes in product, process, materials, or manufacturing location. Changes require written approval prior to implementation

 

INSPECTION AND TEST EQUIPMENT

Suppliers must ensure all inspection and test equipment used for verification activities is calibrated and traceable to NIST or equivalent international standards. Calibration records shall be made available upon request.

 

FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE (FOD) PREVENTION

The supplier shall ensure appropriate controls are in place to prevent and eliminate foreign object damage or contamination during manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and packaging operations.

 

RECORDS RETENTION

Suppliers shall maintain all records that demonstrate compliance with the Purchase Order, including certificates of conformance and process records.
Records must be:

  • Retained for a minimum of 10 years

  • Made available to Precision Manufacturing upon request

  • Disposed of securely:
    a) Hardcopy: shred
    b) Digital: delete from systems

 

NONCONFORMING PRODUCT

Suppliers must notify Precision Manufacturing immediately if any nonconforming material or product is identified, whether discovered before or after delivery.
Nonconforming product shall not be shipped without prior written authorization and disposition approval from Precision Manufacturing.

 

CERTIFICATIONS

Suppliers are responsible for ensuring that all materials and processes comply with applicable specifications. Certificates of Conformance must:

  • Clearly list all applicable manufacturing and special process specifications

  • Match the sequence and revision level stated on the engineering drawing

  • Be traceable to the order and/or lot

 

FIRST ARTICLE INSPECTION (FAI)

When required by Precision Manufacturing, a First Article Inspection must be completed using AS9102 (current revision). Any alternate format must be approved by Precision Manufacturing before use.

 

ITAR / EXPORT CONTROL

When specified in the Purchase Order, suppliers must ensure compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) or other export control requirements. Questions must be directed to the contact listed below.

 

CALIBRATION SERVICES (IF APPLICABLE)

When providing calibration services, all calibrations must be traceable to NIST or another recognized national or international standard. A Certificate of Calibration must accompany each calibration.

 

COUNTERFEIT PARTS PREVENTION

Suppliers must maintain a system to prevent the delivery of counterfeit or suspect parts, in accordance with industry standards and AS9100D guidance.

 

PERSONNEL COMPETENCY

Where specified by the Purchase Order, suppliers must ensure that personnel performing relevant work are qualified and competent. Evidence of competency must be available upon request.

 

CHANGES

Suppliers shall not implement any changes to processes, materials, specifications, or subcontractors related to Precision Manufacturing POs without written approval.

 

PERSONNEL COMMUNICATION

Suppliers must communicate the following to all relevant personnel involved in fulfilling Precision Manufacturing orders:

  • Their contribution to product or service conformity

  • Their contribution to product safety

  • The importance of ethical behavior in all operations
